Physics Informed Machine Learning Models for Self-adapting Network of Digital Twins

This talk will provide insights about the current advancements in Physics informed AI that are leading us to a future where self-adapting network of digital twins will become the mainstream cyber-physical systems. Digital Twins will bring together the cyber and physical systems in a single platform that will evolve as the underlying physical systems change over time. Example projects and applications will highlight advancements in systems, models and algorithms that have contributed to self-adapting digital twins and how emerging applications will necessitate networks of digital twins that evolve as individual physical components within the system change and learn from the system behaviour. The talk will conclude with the challenges and opportunities that are driving the evolution towards distributed AI and its applications for network of digital twins.

Profile: I am a professor of Distributed Systems at the University of Leicester and have been an active member of the international research community in this area for almost two decades now. I am the director of enterprise and impact and previously have been the director of the data science research centre. My areas of research include data intensive distributed systems, distributed machine learning models, self-adapting digital twins and physics informed machine models for digital twins to emulate the real time behaviour of (bio)mechanical and cyber-physical systems. I am an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on parallel and distributed systems (TPDS).

My research work has been funded through a number of research grants including the EPSRC projects in AI driven digital twins for net zero and clinical care and the EU funded projects on distributed clinical intelligence, modelling and iterative genome analytics. I have been investigating distributed analytics platforms for the LHC data in collaboration with CERN Geneva Switzerland for the last twenty years. I also closely work with telecom, aerospace, rail and automobile companies to investigate self-learning digital twins and distributed machine learning platforms for intelligently analyzing IoT data streams for accuracy, reliability, safety and capacity. I am also actively collaborating with leading VR providers to commoditise AI driven digital twins and enable real time physics informed and distributed machine learning algorithms for augmented and virtual reality environments with applications in health, aerospace and telecom.

Newlife,  An dream application for transplant patients !

Profile: I am a geriatrics doctor and I also have a degree in biology.

I worked in several fields:

  • In medical analysis laboratories as a technician for more than 10 years,
  • In the pharmaceutical companies with a broad range of functions from the seller to the marketing and sales manager (Behring laboratory, Dade Behring, Bio-Rad…).
  • I also have medical experience in the field as geriatrics physician after I got a degree as Geriatrics physician and as a medical coordinator in Geriatric at the University of Sorbonne (Pr. Belmin Joël).

Now I am retired, I had a liver transplant 8 years ago. I am totally committed in transplantation and organs donors’ associations. I am president of the French Transhepate federation (association of liver transplants). I am member of ELPA and I work on several European programs, such as the Newlife project (application for follow-up of transplants) or the Leopard project (EU project to redefine liver transplantation score, based on advanced technology and IA).

The most important for me at the present moment, it is that the science could be help patients in the diagnostic, treatment, and quality of life.
